6th Grade ELA/Expository - Marinos, Kathryn

Kathryn Marinos

About Me:

I am happy to be joining the 6th-grade team at Kennedy Middle School in Redwood City School District. I will be teaching 6th grade English Language Arts and 6th-grade Expository Reading and Writing. Before moving over to 6th grade only, I was the Educational Technology Coach and Elective Teacher. I have two children - Cora, who is in 12th grade, and Andy, who is in 10th grade. I am an avid reader and hope to instill my love for reading in my students.
Before Kennedy, I worked as a Professional Learning Coordinator at Digital Promise. I focused on curating lessons learned across Digital Promise and the field and sharing them with interested schools around the United States through consulting services. I also served at the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) on the Accountability, Innovation, and Results team. In this role, I led innovative education technology projects in San Mateo County School Districts. I assisted districts with advancing their strategies and practices to improve student learning with a particular focus on student data privacy. I also worked on the iZone San Mateo County initiative, a public-private partnership with the Full Circle Fund to spur innovation across the county's schools. Before SMCOE, I worked in the public education, IT industry, and nonprofit sectors. I helped start the nonprofit Jean Nidetch Women's Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas while earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology.
