Our STEAM Program
Going beyond tech consumption and into tech creation, Kennedy Middle School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) program is preparing students to be innovators and complex problem-solvers who are ready to meet the dynamic needs of a changing world.
Students are offered a variety of introductory and advanced skills STEAM courses, including an exploratory view of how technology is used in a variety of careers from agriculture to medicine and computer science.
Through elective courses, students are given exposure to many possibilities which allows them to explore what sparks personal curiosity. Students are able to navigate pathways in specialized areas such as robotics, design and modeling, bio technology, computer science and engineering. Field trips and guest speakers give further access to real-world applications and experiences.
In the STEAM Lab, where hands-on building takes place and engineering theories are challenged, students can go to the next level by turning a design into a prototype and then a final product. Perseverance, out-of-the-box thinking, and collaboration are just a few of the life skills that students take with them from the lab to other classes–and the world!
